Let's talk! At Uniting Wesley Heights
A speech therapy program that has helped residents at Uniting Wesley Heights Manly improve their speaking skills has won a prestigious Better Practice aged care industry award.
The Australian Aged Care Quality Agency will present the award to staff and participants today (Tuesday, 9 February) at Uniting Wesley Heights Manly.
The Better Practice Award program acknowledges outstanding initiatives and showcases programs so the industry can learn from each other and improve practices across the board.
The winning Conversation Club is a speech therapy program that helps residents rebuild their conversation skills and build friendships with each other.
Speech pathologist Ruth Hartman, an expert in communication disorders, leads the group. “We have had great feedback from residents and their families. Club members feel more confident to share stories and get to know each other. Their vocal strength and endurance has improved. The Club is a great success!” Ruth said.
Uniting Wesley Heights Manly residents and staff will be presented with their Better Practice Award by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency.
