Give back and make a difference

Do you want to inspire people, enliven communities or confront injustice? You are in the right place.

We work with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community within the areas of aged care, families, children and young people and early childhood education. Volunteers are always needed and welcomed in our services.

If you’re interested in sharing your skills and giving back to the community, we have volunteering opportunities across NSW and the ACT in aged care.

Ways to volunteer in aged care

There are many ways you can be involved during hours that suit you including:

  • Driving residents and clients to shopping or appointments
  • Phoning or visiting a client in their home
  • Assisting with art and craft
  • Reminiscing, talking, discussing the local news
  • Sharing a cup of tea
  • Driving our mini-buses
  • Writing letters
  • Enjoying a walk
  • Sharing your musical talents
  • Gardening
  • Office administration
  • Assisting in the kiosk/cafe
  • Knitting and sewing.

Benefits of volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to learn about an organisation and give back to the community. While volunteers help others, studies show that volunteering is good for us too.

Sometimes volunteering can open up career opportunities. As a volunteer, you can enjoy a sense of achievement and fulfilment from helping others and supporting your community. Volunteering can also help you develop personally and boost your self-esteem. Another great benefit of volunteering is that it can help you to connect to, and better understand your community. You can also meet new people and make new friends as a volunteer, opening up a world of opportunities.

How I am supported

In return for your valued contribution, we provide an induction, relevant training and ongoing support so that you become part of our community.
