We’re working with the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Employment to become a corporate leader in Indigenous employment. Jaanimili is the name given to the Aboriginal Services & Development Unit within Uniting. Jaanimili means ‘gathering’ from the Gumbaynggirr Aboriginal people of the mid north coast of NSW. The Jaanimili group invites the participation of all Aboriginal staff working across the organisation to inform our cultural model of working in NSW/ACT.
One of the roles of the Jaanimili group is to provide cultural support and guidance to our employees from Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal backgrounds. As part of the organisation’s commitment to Australia’s First Peoples, Jaanimili is responsible for leading relationships and work with Aboriginal people and communities across NSW and the ACT.
