In the lead up to starting, it can be a great idea to spend some time with your child at the service.
Becoming comfortable with the routine, making the environment familiar and getting to know staff are all key ways to help the transition between home and the service.
This time can also help you to find out further information about the care and education process.
Each child settles in differently. We encourage you to talk to service staff about the best way to settle your child on arrival.
We're here to help. Call the service at any time throughout the day to check in on your child.
At Uniting, culture matters. If there are certain foods, activities or customs that are meaningful to you, let us know.
We encourage and support all families to continue to communicate with their children in their home language.
If you have any teaching resources in your home language that you would like to share, let us know. We would love to incorporate them into our education program to help staff and children learn more about your culture and home language. If this is something you are interested in doing, please mention it to a staff member.
In the interest of safety, children can only be collected by their parents or other authorised person/s. Any person delegated to collect your child will be requested to show proof of identity, e.g. Driver’s Licence or Passport before being allowed to collect your child.
In our preschool services, families are asked to provide all of the children’s food and drinks. If you would like some healthy lunch box suggestions our educators can assist.
Many of our Early Learning services have an onsite cook who prepares meals daily. The menus meet nutritional guidelines and are created at each service in consultation with families to meet individual needs.
Educators will provide feedback to families about the children’s eating habits and patterns.
To ensure the health and safety of all children, certain foods that can cause allergic reactions may be restricted, and alternatives will be suggested.
Not sure what to bring if your baby needs formula? Please check with the service.
If you have any questions, just ask. We’re happy to help.
