Uniting Newpin is a therapeutic restoration/reunification program which provides emotional and practical support to families with at least one child under the age of six. It supports and empowers families to break the cycle of child neglect and abuse and to provide safe, nurturing environments for children.
In New South Wales, Uniting Newpin focuses primarily on the restoration of children in out-of-home care to their parents. Parents, children and staff work together towards restoration under the Newpin core values of safety, equality, empathy, respect and self-determination. The aim of the program is to provide parents with the opportunity to address their own emotional issues, to improve bonding with their children and to develop positive parenting skills with the view towards restoration.
Parents attending Uniting Newpin share their experiences and discuss how the program has supported them to overcome intergenerational abuse and make positive long term changes.

Newpin was first established in the United Kingdom (UK). The first Uniting Newpin centre was opened at Bidwill in Sydney’s western suburbs in April 1998.
Uniting has since adapted the original UK model to respond to the Australian context. The program was chosen as Australia’s first Social Benefit Bond Pilot in 2013. In New South Wales, Uniting Newpin focuses primarily on the restoration of children in out-of-home care to their parents.
"Newpin is a harbinger of hope. Hope that we can work together to build a world fit for children. The holistic nature of Newpin shows us that we can think outside the bureaucratic boxes and professional barriers of mental health, child protection and early childhood education and care."
