Uniting and the NDIS
What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?
The NDIS supports people with a permanent and significant disability that impacts their ability to carry out everyday activities. It’s a new national system that provides support for you, your family or carer, no matter where you live.
Your funding will be there when you need it. This means you’ll have more choice and more control. You can choose when, where and how you get the help you need.
You might find navigating the NDIS a bit challenging. A Uniting options specialist can help you understand your NDIS Plan, goal and needs, and explore how Uniting can support you. They will sit down with you and your family or carer to provide information on all the options you have. If you like, they can also help to coordinate and manage your NDIS and other grant-funded enquiries, or even help you request services or support.
Supporting the introduction of the NDIS
Uniting is actively supporting the introduction of the NDIS. If you need help understanding how it all works, our team can help you and make sure you’re ready for the changes.
We have a long history of supporting people with disability in NSW and the ACT and our aim is to help you access the NDIS easily, letting you achieve your goals.
Will anything change with NDIS?
Our services and the help we provide will still be available under the NDIS, but might be called something different.
Uniting disability wants you to have the best possible services and supports.
You decide what kind of support and services you receive, and when and where you get them. This is our person-centred approach and it helps us provide you with solutions perfectly suited for your life. We are committed to it, because you’re the expert in what’s best for you.
To get it right, we need to understand you. A few things to think about:
- What you need
- What interests you
- What goals you have and where your life is heading
Imagine better for your life. Together with you, your family or circle of support, we will build a one-page profile summary about you.
This profile helps us match you with members of our team who might be a good fit for you, however we will always let you have the final say in who you work with. The one-page profile also helps us to communicate better with other important people or supports in your life.
If you think this approach would work well for you, your child, family member or a friend, then please get in touch today.
