As part of the Uniting commitment to supporting Presbyteries and Congregations and other Community Organisations in the Uniting Church’s mission, it sets aside a percentage of its operational budget for mission initiatives that will make a difference to people experiencing social disadvantage in the community.
Applications should target social disadvantage through activities that:
The fund aims to support you to develop or expand activities in your community, enabling you to build capacity or start new activities, to work with others and to share what you’ve learnt. We encourage you to think creatively about your projects and to live out the call to be “Uniting for the Common Good” with other community organisations.
From January 2017 the Uniting Innovative Grant Fund will operate a three tiered grant fund
Capacity Grants provide one-off funding of up to $15,000 for projects that will make a difference to people experiencing social disadvantage. These grants are intended to support congregations to enhance or expand activities within communities and to forge further relationships with other community groups.
Time frame: up to 1 year.

Breakthrough Grants provide funding of up to $30,000 for initiatives that will make a difference to people experiencing social disadvantage These grants are intended to support congregations to undertake activities with an innovative focus within their communities and to forge further relationships with other community groups. Priority will be given to areas with high levels of disadvantage.
Time frame: 1–2 years.
The Uniting Impact Grants provide multi-year funding for initiatives that will have a lasting and significant impact for people experiencing social disadvantage. It is expected that these will be evidence based initiatives, or involve innovation supported by solid reasoning. Initiatives should have a focus on collaboration with other organisations and funding bodies. Priority will be given to areas with high levels of disadvantage.
Time frame: 1–5 years (as required)
