Aftercare for young people

Service Detail

Aftercare for young people

Help achieving independence

Young people that may be in a position of disadvantage, vulnerability and isolation often find themselves in violent, neglectful home environments. They may be homeless or at risk of homelessness.

We offer a range of mentor programs and services for young people who find themselves in these positions and need a helping hand.

When a young person leaves care, they shouldn’t have to do it alone. We’re here to support them in that “next step” of life. Our aftercare programs are here to help with just that. We offer practical assistance and emotional support for young people (aged 15–25 years) or adults who left Burnside in former years.

Aftercare services are also available for young people who have left or are thinking of leaving (non-Burnside) out-of-home care and who require assistance moving to independent living.

Ex-Burnsiders

If you formerly lived on site at North Parramatta when Burnside operated as a Children's Home, help is also available to rediscover your history.

What we offer

Uniting provides an outreach casework support service, working collaboratively with you to support your life goals and help you towards independence.

The young people who participate in our program do so voluntarily and we work within a strengths-based, goal-orientated solution focused framework.

Where are we located

We are located in South West Sydney and the southern region of NSW. The service in the South West Sydney Region covers the local Community Service Centre areas of Bankstown, Bowral, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool and Ingleburn. The service in the southern region of NSW covers the local Community Service Centre areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour, Nowra and Ulladulla.
