We work in partnership with families and we value your feedback and ideas. We have an open-door policy for parents and welcome contact with our staff on a daily basis.

To make sure we keep communication lines open, we provide:

  • regular updates on your child’s learning and development
  • newsletters with the latest news from the service
  • regular meetings of our Advisory Council

Inclusive learning

Uniting provides learning experiences for all children. Children with additional needs are viewed as children first.

All children have:

  • individual needs
  • the right to have educational needs met
  • contributions to make

Including children with additional needs in an educational setting means they are learning with, communicating with and socialising with their peers. It is through successful interactions that optimal growth and learning can be achieved.

What is children’s citizenship?

At Uniting, children’s citizenship is a practice that takes into account the unique contributions that children already make. It recognises the untapped potential of every child to change something in the world, for themselves, their family and their community.

We recognise, highlight and promote what children already contribute, but can often go unnoticed - things like their unique ideas, efforts, emotions, experience and time.

Children join with adults in making decisions about their engagement in the service and with community.

We do this when we:

  • develop children’s knowledge and skills to choose, create and claim spaces of their own
  • join with children to make decisions together
  • grow opportunities for children's voices to lead change at an individual, service or community level
